Aljmaš je smješten na obroncima Daljske planine, na desnoj obali Dunava, u mikroregiji Erdutske kose, tek 5 kilometara zračne linije udaljen od Parka prirode Kopački rit i na samom ušću Drave u Dunav. Aljmaš je i poznato marijansko svetište od 1704. godine. Crkva Pohođenja Marijina, s kipom Majke Božje, izgrađena je 1864. godine. Godišnje ga pohodi 100.000 vjenika i turista.
